FAQ

Be sure to read the entire Race Details page in addition to this FAQ to make sure you have all the necessary info about The Stowe 8-Miler & 5k!

Packet pickup/registration is from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., so we suggest arriving no later than 7 a.m. to ensure you have time to park, pick up your bib, and get to the starting line before 8:30 a.m.
Please plan to line up in the start corral by 8:15 a.m.
Because wearing headphones greatly reduces your ability to hear race marshals and car traffic, our insurance provider requires us to prohibit the wearing of headphones during the race.
Yes! We simply ask that you start at the back of the pack for safety reasons and abide by all lane guidance signs and cones.
No, dogs are not allowed on the course.
Porta-potties are located at the recreation fields near packet pickup and Start/Finish.
For the 8-Miler there will be 4 water stops: Mile 1.8, Mile 3.5, Mile 5, Mile 7 and (of course!) the Finish.

For the 5K there will be one water stop at Mile 1.8.

There are no changing facilities available, so please show up ready to run.
Our preferred lodging partner is the Golden Eagle Resort. Use code 8miler2017 for a 15% discount. This discount is available on all room types.

The course is not particularly spectator-friendly as it is one big loop. The course isn’t closed to car traffic but we strongly discourage any cars on the course for the safety of our runners. If you do drive out to watch the race, you’ll most likely be stuck in runner traffic and not get back in time to see the finish, so we recommend staying in the recreation fields to see both the start and the finish.
The course will not be closed to car traffic but there will be runner lanes with cones, signs, and race marshals directing traffic.
Shirts are available in men’s and women’s sizes (S-XXL) sizes. You select a unisex size during online registration but we allow you to choose a different size at packet pick-up because we know that sometimes shirts fit a little differently than you expected. However, because people can change their minds at the last minute, we don’t actually know how many of each size to order. We do our best to estimate (and we even order extras), but sometimes we run out of a particular size. So, if it’s really important that you get a specific size, be sure to arrive at packet pick-up as early as possible.

Shirts will not be mailed out.

For both the 8-Miler and 5k, prizes are awarded to the top 3 men and women finishers overall, and to the top 3 men and women in the following categories: 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Awards are picked up at the Awards tent near the finish. Awards will not be mailed.
Yes, you may elect to drop down from the 8-Miler to the 5k. There will be no rebate or price difference. Please contact linda@locorunning.com ASAP if you’d like to switch.
We’re sorry, but there are no refunds, transfers or deferrals.
The 8-Miler course is certified and accurate according to USATF standards. However your GPS measurement of the course is bound to be different and will most likely show the distance covered to be “long.” This is normal, and here’s a very technical explanation why: In GPS We Trust.
